Hamilton Robertson Sponsor Director in Ride London 2019. Raising £35,000 for Meningitis Now!
Hamilton Robertson Insurance Brokers Ltd was thrilled to sponsor our Director Graeme Robertson last month, for a challenging and exciting 100-mile cycle event known famously as Prudential RideLondon. The event was so successful that £35,000 was raised for Meningitis Now, the remarkable charity that Graeme and his friends chose to ride with.
About Ride London 2019
Prudential RideLondon is the world’s greatest festival of cycling, and last month this event was even broadcast on BBC television in the UK. More than £13 million was raised for charity, equalling the world record for a one-day annual cycling fundraising event.
The Prudential RideLondon festival saw more than 100,000 participants take part in seven events during the weekend, which was graced with lovely, sunny weather. Many different people of all ages and abilities enjoyed cycling on traffic-free roads along a fantastic route, which passed some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks, such as Buckingham Palace and St Paul’s Cathedral. Around 150,000 spectators also lined the routes to watch the cyclers and cheer them on.
Hugh Brasher, Event Director at LMEL, said, “We’ve been involved in this wonderful event from the word go – this is the London Marathon on wheels and every year it’s just getting bigger and better. It’s such a family festival now, there are more and more kids each year enjoying traffic-free roads in this amazing capital city. It’s a joyous day in brilliant sunshine… If you think of bringing people together in creating joy, happiness and sporting exercise, this event does that. By 2029, it will be about truly getting London onto two wheels – and I mean all of London, not parts of London. It’s an amazing vision to try to work towards.”

Meningitis Now is a charity that has been fighting its cause for over 30 years. Their aim is to pioneer the fight against a disease that affects thousands of people across the UK every year. Their vision is a future where no one in the UK loses their life to meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need.
Any money donated to this charity helps to save lives by funding research into vaccines and prevention. It also can help towards reducing the impact of meningitis by raising awareness and increasing knowledge of how to spot the symptoms of the disease.
Graeme joined 25,000 similar enthusiasts to cycle for this charity, through a traffic-free London in an exciting ride.
